My Body Is Betraying Me

Image

Vesalius's "Skeleton Contemplates Mortality," which is about as funny as things get.

My body is betraying me.
First my arches collapsed, then my lungs, then my expensive bridgework.

My stomach, fed up with what it has been fed, is giving and throwing up.
Too neurotic for a nervous system,
Too full of bile for a liver,

I can feel my bones wishing each other well, all throughout my skeleton.
